LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

2022 was a complicated year. Among other things, the war in Ukraine had a major impact on the cost of energy and raw materials and tensions continue to exist in the supply chain even now. Despite this, however, I would go so far as to say that the Fagor Group has been able to successfully navigate these turbulent waters, thereby demonstrating, once again, its enormous capacity to adapt to difficult situations.

But this is not all. The Group continues working to achieve the goals it set itself in the Fagor 2030 Sustainability Strategy, focusing specifically over this last year on education and innovation, and earmarking a significant sum to funding the Hirekin innovation and entrepreneurship centre, firm in its conviction of this initiative’s importance in our current effort to transform our region’s industrial fabric.

This, and the many other achievements outlined in this sustainability report, were only possible thanks to the hard work and effort of all those who, together, make up the Fagor Group. It is important to always remember this since, as well as being a prestigious brand, we are also people, working together for a better future.

We help promote STEM vocation

Mondragon ZTIM HUB
Through collaboration between schools, companies, social agents and municipalities, we are working creating a stable educational network. In 2022, thematic challenges were worked on for students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd ESO, among others, to make STEM professions visible, promote a gender-neutral orientation and influence the educational projects of the centres.

We are working on measuring and reducing our carbon footprint

In 2022, we continued to develop the tool for measuring the three scopes of our cooperatives’ carbon footprint. Seven of the eight cooperatives that make up the group are working on this. In addition, we are starting to set medium- and long-term emission reduction targets.

We are the driving force behind the network for sustainable development in Debagoiena and, in 2022, we placed special emphasis on the energy transition through the Eraginez piztu initiative. We have also become a collaborating partner of Ekiola de Leintz Bailara.

Helping developing countries

We are part of the Board of Trustees and actively participate in the Foundation’s challenges. In addition to financing their activity, the members of our cooperatives have the opportunity to participate in projects in the countries where Mundukide has programs.
